Photo compilation showing hay, a young boy leading a cow, an irrigation system, a chef in a kitcken, a middle aged man and woman hugging, a pictureque Colorado town with old buildings and mountains int he background, a silhouette of farmers shaking hands, a cowboy on a horse herding cattle, a graduate cheering at commencement, a tractor driving through a field and Dillon Reservoir with snow-capped peaks in the background. Whewf, that was a lot of description!
The Expanded Rural Engagement initiative will bring educational programming to rural communities focusing on everything from youth development to agriculture, mental health, civic engagement, food safety, healthy aging, college readiness and more.

As part of the CSU Office of Engagement and Extension’s Rural Initiative, 14 Extension specialists have been hired to help increase access to education, improve health, support food and agriculture production and foster thriving and vibrant communities across Colorado. The sweeping, statewide initiative is funded by a $8.58 million investment from the CSU System Board of Governors.

These 14 specialists are beginning to engage with their communities and will be building on the programming already being delivered by CSU Extension experts across the state in order to develop educational resources that will best meet their regions’ unique needs.
